We know about barbless hooks - do we need steel weights? Are scented plastics ok?

You don't need steel weights. Scented plastics are ok.

Read through that guide several times and can't find anything on Quetico rules. I did find the following on the Quetico park website...

The new fishing regulations came into effect on 1 January 2008. These regulations state that only barbless hooks and artificial bait are permitted in the Park. "This means that no live or dead organic bait can be used in the park, including but not limited to leeches, worms, and salted minnows."[5] Barbed hooks may be in a tackle box but must not be on the fishing line. Barbed hooks must be pinched before being attached to a fishing line.[5] It is encouraged that park users only use lead-free tackle when fishing within the park. This is not a regulation but a recommendation.

I would swear I saw unscented only. Kind of a bummer if you can because I didn't buy any gulp.

Check the size of the fish you can keep as well. A lot of people don't realize that you can't keep a smallmouth unless it is 13.8 inches or under.

Thanks for the info - anything else that trips people up - the 13.8 must be a metric conversion

Pay attention to the Zone 5 regulations in particular.

The length limit that QueticoMike noted is in force through the end of June.

Quetico does not have a special set of fishing regulations other than the barbless hooks and artificial lures; the Ontario regulations for Zone 5 apply to Quetico.

Check zone 5 and scroll down to special regs for zone 5 eventually you find Quetico.

It just says artificial lures and barbless hooks only in Quetico, otherwise follow zone 5 rules. Gulp or any scented plastics are fine. The Park has publically stated this in the past. There was an article in the BWJ with the Park Superintendent when the rules first came out.

As others covered well watch length limits, in Zone 5 only one walleye over 18.1 inch is allowed. No northern over 29.5 inches can be kept.

Remember you can only catch your own limit. Can't party fish or give your fish to another member of the party.

There was a group on here that got fined, they had 2 high school students with 4 walleyes and one had caught 3 the other one (conservation license) when the MNR afloat plane checked them they were honest and were fined for one over the personal limit. There was also a famous or infamous Lake Trout caught in Quetico that was a world or Ontario record for through the ice and he had caught 3 fish and gave one to a nephew to help fill his limit and he had the fish confiscated and was fined. Was caught when he had an article published about him catching the fish and the MNR read it. The MNR and Quetico Park rangers are black and white...either you broke the rules and will get fined or you didn't...no education or interpretation. Not saying it is right or wrong...just the way it is.

Quetico I believe you can have only one lake trout regardless of license type now. With regular license you can posses two after fishing two days. Conservation one no matter when.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Also there is like one over a certain size?

2 Lake trout per regular license, no size restriction until September. Conservation license 1 trout no size restriction...this is all zone 5 nothing special for the Q. Possession and daily limits are the same.

Zone 5 shaded area page 23
I am reading from the 2016 regulations, page 24 and it says sporting license non resident Canadian only 1 trout daily and two in possession. The Conservation license says 1 daily and 1 in possession. I know once it was two daily for Sportsmen.
The 2017 regs I will look up when I get time in a little while.

2017

Unless I read it wrong, it is as I stated above.
