It behaved so well I'm building another.
Yost gave me Flashfire lines many years ago and I wanted a 16' tripping boat so I stretched the flash.

SWEET !
It would be nice to hear more ! Construction details ?

Did you build with Sabots in the stems ? It was an Al Gustevson thing.

Sabots indeed. I worked with Al Teaching, repair, and built the North boats before he retired. Made of Basswood and Walnut. Standard MCA construction sans the herringbones. Bell rail stock, Maple decks and seat spacers. 2 1/2 Rocker in the bow, 1 1/2 in the stern. All other numbers same as the flash. The Magic has a hard time keeping up. :)

Thanks Kent !

I really enjoyed paddling and talking canoes with you !
I believe you have a winner there !
As a sit and switch paddler, I was impressed by the stability, and speed of your stretched Flashfire !
Hope we can hook up again for some more comparison paddling !

Thanks Jim, your Vader was no slouch either. I'm sure the water trails will cross again.

Are those pictures of 2 different boats? Is the boat on the left the stretched version? I too learned from Uncle Al at NWC, great guy.
Sabot every boat, and no bent stems.

Different boats, same hull. The one on the left is Basswood and the other is cedar.
