Enjoyed your report - hope you have another good trip. Where to this year?

Thanks for the report. I have been on Brule at least 10 times and still really like it. Windy and hard to fish at times but I guess I've been lucky. Only one time it was a real chore paddling. Like your pictures! If everything goes right I will be there in August.

Thanks for the nice note. We are headed to area 50, going in on Ham Lake and going to Long Island Lake. I hope it goes well.

Glad you like Brule Lake, it is a beauty. We knew the weather would determine if we would like it or not. It was alot of fun, just scary at times. Good luck on your trip in August. We will be going to area 50. Thanks for reading my story. I have really enjoyed reading others and it helps me learn what to expect. Thanks

I've been in EP #50 a couple of times. The first time I went to Long Island, then east to Horseshoe and out to Poplar Lake. That would be my 2012 trip report if you're looking for some pics and info. The second one was my 2015 trip to Snipe then Tuscarora and out to Round Lake. There are no really hard portages from EP #50 to Long Island, but there are 6-7 so it pays to be organized and efficient at the landings to save time and effort. Some landings are a little rocky and several have only short paddles between them. Pay attention going from Ham to Rib that you don't end up paddling off into one of the creeks. Have a good trip.

NIce read, sounds like overall it was a relaxing and enjoyable trip, love South Temperance lake, we stayed at that site that sits up high and overlooks the lake, made for some great evenings.

Thanks we loved South Temperance also. We wanted to stay on that big rock, I bet that was really a beauty of a place to sit. Headed back to the BWCA in August. Ruth

I did that same trip last June and stayed at the site on the far west side of South Temperance. We stayed 4 days, 3 nights at that same site and really enjoyed it. Great fishing and swimming back there. We passed up on the east side site because it looked too buggy there with how enclosed it was and didn't offer much for a view of the lake. We always try to do our long paddles on Brule near dawn. It tends to be the calmest at that time, at least on average. I would go there again.
