Well paddled and well told! Partners in paddling can be a firewall, insulating us from the moment.

Thanks for the report, pictures, and video, Anthony. I really enjoyed it and I can tell you really enjoyed your first solo. I did my first solo in that area about 10 years ago. The top half of that loop is really nice.

Nice report. Thanks for sharing. Amen on pfd. Never gotten that far north of lis. Should plan a trip like that. Sorry to hear about damaging your canoe. As owner of a cedar sripper I am also very careful. Hope your next trip is as enjoyable.

I think it was your trip report that made me decide on this EP, so thank you!

Nice report. Your trip reminded me of my first solo. I went in at 16, Moose River North, we paddled some of the same lakes.

I've been slowly watching the video over the past couple of days (lots of interruptions, lol). So far I'm really enjoying it. I've done portions of your route a few times and love those areas. Did you use a go-pro for the underwater shots?

Yeah, GoPro was used for all the video. I took some pics with my camera but I had about 4 hours of footage to go through. Lots of fun putting it together. Thanks for watching.

Cool report, thanks for sharing. Just curious (and don't answer if you're keeping it a secret :) : What was the lure in the photo of the lake trout? Looked like some kind of a Storm swimbait, but I could be mistaken.

Yeah, to be honest, I don't remember what it was called but I picked it up at Joe's Sporting Goods on a whim. It may have been "Storm" brand stuff. It has a tail on it that flutters and spins and I also threw a fake leech on there too.

Great report. Love that route. You made good time, must have got a good start to get to fat lake so quick. I think caution is handed out on the unmarked portage more to make you aware. All the times I've done that Portage was from the other direction. Fat lake never ceases to amaze people with its clarity. Again, nicely done.

Thanks so much. I was on the trail at 5:30 that first morning and single portaging so I made good time. The only portage I doubled was the Slim-Fat one just because I had heard it was thick and I didn't want to get off track. I had a great time, can't wait for my next solo trip although I'm not sure when it will be. I saw a family on the Little Loon-Slim portage and after that I didn't see anyone until almost 3 full days later on Oyster. I would do that loop again in a heartbeat. Doing a fall threesome with my 6 year old son and my dad and I'm thinking we may basecamp on Lynx or Shell and do some day trips from there. Can't wait to get back to EP 14.

Loved the report, the clarity of your writing, and the detail. I was thinking about doing this same route in June, 2018 and your report is inspiring me.

Thanks so much! I’m glad the report has lit the fire for a trip to this area. Go for it!
