Starting to think about next year's early season trip, and am thinking we may enter at Beaverhouse. A couple of additional folks are considering joining us, so canoe rental would be needed. That said, are there recommendations anyone can make for an outfitter in the area? We'd need a boat and bunkhouse room only.

I worked with them last year and they were super affordable and easy to work with. Very nice couple that run the lodge. They had no issues with me only renting a room for one night.

I didn't need a boat, but I'm fairly sure they have canoes for rent. If they don't have what you are looking for, they might even be willing to get a canoe from town for you.

I booked the room above the office. It had a nice lake view, deck with grill, two bedrooms, a nice sitting area, and kitchen.

They even went to town before my trip and picked up my permit for me.

It was great to just drive up there and have my permit waiting. I cooked a simple dinner, chilled out looking over the lake and then just headed to Beaverhouse in the morning. It was nice not having to go to Atikokan for anything.

For rental of boats etc. on the north side, I always recommend Canadian Quetico Outfitters, run by Doug Chapman. He's always been our guy and he's fantastic. But he doesn't have a lodge, it's just rental of boats and gear.

I'd not hesitate to use Doug again. As a matter of fact, if I do a north-side entry next season, I WILL use Doug. Just keep in mind that he is located at the opposite end of the park from Beaverhouse ... very close to Dawson Campground/French Lake (Pickerel Lake, and if you use Doug, Stanton Bay EPs).

While Doug doesn't have a bunk house, he is usually open to you pitching a tent on the ample open ground adjacent to his business (which offers an "outhouse with a view"). If you'd like something a bit more comfortable, I can highly recommend Quetico College School. This is the site of what was previously an executive conference center. You can either stay in a cabin or in a dormitory-style room with on-suite bath. Since this is a full service facility, you can also arrange for breakfast and/or dinner in their chow hall. This facility is about 5 miles from Doug's place (which I'll also be using again if I'm on the north side). This place is expansive and quite impressive. Academic sessions are usually not running during much of paddling season ... in any case, they have excessive lodging capacity.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that the lodge I recommended charged us $100 for a very nice "cabin" style apartment. I thought it was a very fair price considering the location in relation to beaverhouse entry and a comfortable nights stay before starting the trip.

I've used Indiaonta Resort a couple times now.

I've stayed there the night before, and had breakfast going in and Dinner the night before here.

They are FANTASTIC.

They are about 10 miles from the Beaverhouse Entry Point on Calm Lake.

I have rented canoes from there too......and the also provide transport to and from the entry.

I have stayed there, rented canoes and been shuttled by them on a couple of occasions. A great place and they do rent souris river tandem canoes. Not too far from the Beaverhouse entry.
