I like catching and eating bluegills. I just got back from a week of winter fishing in the UP and came back with some nice ones. My "go-to" recipe is beer batter and fried, but I need a nice option for seasoned, baked bluegills or anything new and different.

Let me know your favorite bluegill recipe!

I've never tried it, but blackened bluegill! My daughter and I did blackened catfish once and we really liked it, but my wife has forbidden us to ever again do it in the kitchen. Coat fish with creole seasonings for blackened fish. Heat cast iron skillet on high until smoking hot, toss in gob of butter followed by fish, flip when blackened on first side. Enjoy!

Tips: Open all windows and disconnect smoke detector before beginning. Better yet, do on grill ;).

Strongly suggest doing it in the driveway If you follow those directions! :)

Would love to weigh in on this, but that would mean I had some gills to cook. Sadly, I think I can say I have not caught a bluegill since I was in junior high back in the mid 70's.

Wow! That's bizarre! I mean they're so easy to catch, anybody can do it . . . even my girls caught them :).

And don't lean over the pan while breathing in! Speaking from experience
