Anyone have any comments on the coleman apex stove. Good, bad or otherwise. I currently have a 2 burner suitcase and am looking at cutting down on the weight.

Thanks

Thanks,

Doesn't the powermax stove use "special" fuel? The reason I was looking at the apex II was that it used regular white fuel.

yep your right! i forgot about that. i think the canisters are a little more pricy! but they arnt messy, and for me thats worth it. but then again ive never used any other kind of stove.

good luck with picking a stove,

What does anybody know about Coleman's new Fyrestorm Ti stove? it looks really cool. runs off white gas, and butane canisters. it looks like MSR's whisperlite. and you can use an outback oven with it even if you use the butane canisters (if you can get it to simmer)because it uses a hose.

I have used the Apex for a few years backpacking. It's not the lightest, and not the quietest stove out there (it makes a pretty loud chugging noise when cranked up), but it's reliable and fairly priced. If mine ever dies, I would get another.

I just wake up this thread.

by my opinion coleman never made a better stove, at least not with a separate bottle with pump.

I have the Fyrestorm too, (among others) but no! The Apex is the best, so I take care of mine, and changes o-rings and rubber parts when needed. (that is not often)

dsk
