I was spreading some mulch yesterday evening and spotted this bird underneath my Arbs.

A new one for me.

Due to species-splitting, what used to be called rufous-sided towhee is now called spotted towhee here in the west and Eastern towhee in your neck of the woods.

Cool. At first I thought it was some weird mutant robin but then I looked it up.
