I should add that Cabelas still has the original Inreach explorer gps option for even cheaper at 249.00 and often goes on sale for $199.00, like it is now.
This option has GPS but unlike the newer Garmin version there is no onscreen map.
I'm close to pulling the trigger and buying a mini. I'd appreciate hearing anything from anyone who has used the mini however. I'm planning a solo in early October and, given my age (66), I think it might be time to start taking some extra safety measures like satellite communication.
