I am guessing you mean the flesh is red or dark orange? Otherwise I have never heard of a red laker either. I am no expert but the flesh color is due to what they feed on...I think...A laker that eats more ciscoes/minnows is going to have lighter whiter colored flesh than one that eats invertebrates like crustaceans or bugs---so I would assume if you fish closer to the bottom you would get the more orange colored flesh and more open water where ciscoes are at the lighter color flesh. I think there was a good article about this many years ago in the BWJ. Might be more dependent on your technique than the lake.
Sorry I haven't fished any of those lakes.

Tyler W: "I think the trout in Wine and Lower Trout (Bower Trout?) have read flesh. Both prey on invertebrates.
If there were trout in Oyster (which I can not confirm or deny) they would not have red flesh. "
I have also seen a picture posted here somewhere of a laker that had a strikingly beautiful red color to it from Wine lake.

shock: "shock: "not in oyster , but yes some lakes have them , from what i've read it's there diet "the lake trout we caught on this trip the meat was brook trout red , even my buddy commented on this ,
hmm never quoted myself before LOL."
I have yet to encounter a brook trout with red flesh here in California. When we get rainbows with red flesh, it is because they have been eating a certain copepod. Invertebrates can come and go over the years so it's possible to catch red and white fleshed individual fish in the same waters, in different years, sometimes. Also different individuals may have different eating habits so you might land red-fleshed and white-fleshed individuals in the same waters, on the same trip.
