I’m looking for recommendations on cabins in the Ely area. Preferably something remote that one might have to paddle or hike into.

Another option is the AdventureInn hotel has a cabin on an island on Farm Lake that they rent out. Scroll to the bottom of this link....... andventure inn cabin

Camp Van Vac is really cool but it's not super secluded. We've always loved going there...it's outside Ely on Burntside.

Not sure what you mean by remote. However, one nice outfit is Vosburgh Custom Cabin Rentals on Moose Lake. It is a small family business and they will treat you right. The view from the Vosburgh's home on Gin Hill is spectacular.
