Have fun!!!!!!!! I'm still contemplating a short solo next weekend. If I do I'll drive up Friday after work or during the middle of the night getting up there early Sat. Morning. Would have to head home Monday already ;(. If it does happen I don't even know if I'll heading to Ely or the Sawbill area.

Have a great time. I can't wait for the day when I can trip in May and June again. The waters should be raging and the forests alive with birds and others.
BTW, it's my work that keeps me going in August or September.

Hmmm. If you were interested we could meet for a quick breakfast. I am a very early riser. I had to cancel my trip last week, Due to hernia surgery. Now I have a month off . All ready climbing the walls. We could call it an ass crack of dawn mini-wing night. Er.. Wing morn? If you just want to keep moving I get it. Just trying to live precariously through others. Won't be taking a trip until September now. :( I will watch this thread.

Have fun bwcasolo..... Things came together and I'll be pulling up to the Tofte Ranger Station when they open on Saturday morning. I'm going to decide where to enter when I get to the counter :) Quick 2 night trip is better than nothing.

back home and unpacked, gear put away. i had great weather, hot at the end of the week, lake jeanette was a real sweet place. just 2 of us older paddlers occupying it for the days i stayed there.
worked my way back to ely, little indian souix, fenske lake.
then arrived at fall lake for a couple nights. spent the day at ojibiwa lake, what a gorgeous lake this is. tofte lake across the road.
slept in the tent and outback wherever i landed.
paddled all of lake one, until the blazing sun kicked me off, man it was hot, sure did miss the normal, cooler may weather. not complaining.
the pagami re-growth was preety.
last day got to burntside wolf landing and a thunderstorm moved in with lighting.
did not go out-next time, looks like a beauty of an area to paddle.
worked my way to 2 harbors. spent time there, castle danger brewery is fun.
then off to duluth, bent paddle brewery, and the rest stop on the hill for the evening before the 5 hour drive home.
went thru wisconsin, took the same time.
will always go this route, good bye twin cities, i won't miss you.
it was a fun, easy, non-permit trip i will certainly do again.
i had the the lakes to myself as the entry points were filling up and parties were heading in.
until next time, paddle on.
