Hey all,

I am planning a trip to the BWCAW in early June. We are planning to head from Seagull through Ogishkiemuncie onto south arm of Knife with hopes of landing a few trout along the way.

Anyone have any tips or pointers for the area?

Thanks.

Lots of trout in that area. Bring cranks of a variety of depths up to and including big Tail Dancers and be prepared to look for them as they move around.

Also, I'd recommend a look at the search function; you'll find hundreds of posts on this very topic (on all lakes, but definitely including this area). I know because I've written and responded to many of them.

I love trolling crankbaits for lakers, in particular Reef Runners and #9 shad raps, depending on how deep and how tight a wobble the fish want. I like Reef Runners better than Tail Dancers to accomplish the same job, but either will do.

That being said, don't leave home without some spoons you can troll deep. Oftentimes, spoons will flat out-perform crankbaits. Snap weights will get you down deep with any lure, or Jet Divers or Fish Seekers used with flutter spoons.

+1

Don't forget a depth finder.
