No pics of your accomplice?
I might have to rethink wanting to do a trip with you........."take my picture".......5 minutes later........"take my picture" rinse and repeat etc. etc. ;-)
You also need to do a trip report. "We really caught them well on the S.E. bank of lake X just below the little creek which comes in". "A gold colored Pop R was the ticket" etc.
Inquiring minds want to know!

Sometimes it doesn't take 5 minutes ;)
Here is the report in a nutshell...... The first water we fished was cold. We fished mostly with soft plastic jerk baits - ZMAN ShadZ ( aka Zulu ). The redbone colored worked well for me. We basically fished shorelines that are rocky and slowly sloping, some flats and any points we came across. When the water was cold we fished 10 to 20 feet off the banks. When the water was warm we fished as close to the shoreline that you possibly could. They were hitting from a few inches off the banks to a foot or two. Caught my first lake trout on a ShadZ. That should tell you how cold the water was. Caught the grand slam that day on the ShadZ. My partner had a grand slam that day as well. We ate lake trout that day for lunch. Ate walleye on three other days. Also ate a pike. First one in many years. Biggest walleye was 26 inches. No big pike.

The laker was a surprise for sure. Thanks, adds a little meat to the bones. Just kidding of course on the spots.......frankly I like to find my own fish anyway and seldom pay any attention to where other people fish. Finding my own fish is at least1/2 the game for me and very satisfying.
After that laker I might have shifted focus. If they were up shallow the whoppers might have lit you up. If the smallies aren't chewing time to look for a 15 or 20lb lake trout.

We put spoons on after I caught that trout. Within 15 minutes my fishing partner hooked into a 7 or 8 pounder. Satisfied we had enough for lunch we went back to smallmouth fishing.
