I know that people have different preferences when it comes to campsites. Fishing, sandy beach, easy take out, kitchen set-up, # of tent pads are not important to me. The one thing that I look for is a nice big sitting rock/outcrop.
I have a few favorite campsites I visit occasionally with big rocks/outcrops. Cherokee is a lake that has a nice selection of these. What other lakes in the BWCA (east, central or west) have multiple campsites with big rocks out front?
Thanks for your ideas!

I remember some great "sitting rocks" on the big islands on Ensign. The kind that if trusted the night sky you could sit out with your legs in front of you and sleep. Now that was when I was much younger and my body wasn't always achy before I even got out there. Ensign can be busy but there are a lot of sites!

There's great site in Winchell near the west send of the lake that has a fantastic seating area. South Temperance has a great site as well that sits high above the water.

Don't know about multiple sites, but here are a few of my favorites.

SAK - Southern most campsite on the island. Up the hill and to the south. My son spent a couple of hours on a windy day watching the whitecapped waves crawl up the lake to the west.

Banadad Lake - Western most site on an island. Lots of sitting rock space here.

River Lake - (west of Malberg) - Northern site on the island. Another son declared it the most comfortable rock in the BW.

Frost Lake - Northern site on eastern shore.

Crooked Lake (next to Gillis) - Southern island site. Nice rock right out front looking west.

Thomas lake has an island site on the southeast end where a two minute hike up an easy, well worn path brings you to a 30 foot clliff with a huge flat sitting area and a West facing view overlooking the lake.
Doesn't get much better for watching sunsets or storm clouds approaching.

Gabbro Lake has a few. This site is right as you enter Gabbro Lake after paddling through the narrows from Little Gabbro.
