We just got back from Bald Eagle/Gabbro EP33. The mosquitos got pretty heavy twice per day, AM and PM. The heaviest was at dusk. I would bring thermacells, and anything other repellent you would typically use. We broke out the DEET a few times which seemed to have the most effectiveness. That, and getting to a breeze when possible. Aside from those hatch times it was great and fairly bug free.

We just got back in last Friday and found we had minimal bugs on the east side. We had to use bug spray one evening in six days in a site that was more set back into the woods with very little breeze. Beyond that, it was one of the better bug years we've had in quite a while.

We just got back from a long weekend trip on Alton and Sawbill Lakes on the East side. Didn't use any bug deterrents the entire time and had no issues. It was glorious! Enjoy!

Started at Sawbill, cut over on the Lady Chain, then up through Little Sag and some of the northern trout lakes and headed back down through Long Island and Cherokee. Some rain and storms, but one of the best trips ever out of the many we've taken up there! Fishing was excellent!

I was on East Bearskin-Caribou-Pine a couple of weeks ago, and there were only a few mosquitoes in the evening. I only used bug spray once.
And if there's been frost, I don't know that I'd bother to pack it.
