Putting in on Monday the 17th. With the cold front that is going to be here when we are entering, how might it affect the fishing? Any tips or techniques we should be using with that weather pattern?

What area will you be fishing ? I’d start by trolling and from there trying to develope a pattern. They could be in 30ft of water or 10 ft so think outside the box and find them. Good luck.

I find that when you start getting to this time of year sometimes a cold front will trigger for them to put on the feed bag because fall is coming. Not sure if you are targeting walleye or smallmouth, but smallmouth tend to be more tolerant of cold fronts. I would personally start fishing more crankbaits and swim baits. Fluke on a bullethead works well in the fall.

Good Luck

We're putting in EP 23 heading up to lower Basswood Falls. Definitely targeting walleye but I would love to find some big Pike as well. But anything that's biting we will be happy with haha.

Jigging isn't a bad option, tip it with a minnow or crawler.

I actually dislike fishing at those times when the water temperature is going in the "wrong" direction -- like when it starts going back up in the fall, or when it goes back down in the spring.

You didn't mention what you're fishing for....
