Either folks are not fishing this fall or are keeping walleye locations close to the chest, so figured I would let folks know that we had tremendous success this past weekend with walleyes in the 12-15ft depths on the Ely side. We found them at this depth on pretty much all drop offs, but we had the most success when the drop off ended at a basin/flat that was 15ish feet and we vertical jigged right where the dropoff met the flat.

Anyone else having success out there?

Yes we are! Funny thing is ours are coming from 6 feet of water. We are slip bobbering with minnows. Area with lots of current, close to a channel that is 12 to 16 feet depth. Catching them all through the day. No trophy’s, but most over 4 pounds.

I fished for crappies this past weekend and found them suspended in about 10-15 ft

Caught many off of the bank of the campsite, literally, in Quetico last week. All were good eater size, though the vast majority were released...

They're coming up shallower! Great news all around.

The big walleyes like to move up into shoreline structure going back to their traditional spawning grounds when the water temperatures are around that magical mid 50s range. The spawning grounds will have more rocks the size of your head rather than gravel type spawning grounds used by bass. This pattern typically lasts for about a week and then they return to their deeper haunts. So, keep an eye on the water temps and if they are in the mid 50s, take a serious look at the shallow spawning grounds that week.
Cranking some Rapala Shad Raps, size 7 or 9, in the perch, crawfish, or gold colors can be an excellent presentation when working some of the shallower waters during low light or when there is a good chop on the surface of the lake.
