Does anyone know if the water level ever recovered in the passage between Nutria and Mexican Hat? The water was extremely low when I was there in early June. Not sure I would try it again unless the beaver dam was restored. Already planning for next year's trip.

Thanks,
Don

...the whole Woodland Caribou lacked water this year. In August, when I paddled through the route you mentioned, the beaver dam wasn't in too bad of shape, but the water levels were low. So the portage above the dam/Nutria to Amber was the driest I've experienced...This route always has that "challenge?" of what is the water level...behind the dam...from the beaver sticks floating in Mexican Hat and Nutria it appears that the
beavers are active and if the rainfall is normal, the paddling will get easier.

I was through there on 9/12 and had no problems. This was however after a couple days of heavy rain that had Mexican Hat rising another 6 inches over the next 4 days,
