Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

I like it! Merry Christmas to you, too, Mitch and family!

Merry Christmas, everyone! And if you've been eyeing some special piece of paddling gear (and perhaps dropping the appropriate hints), I hope it turns up in your stocking or under your tree. And here's to a wonderful 2019--hope your next BWCA/Quetico visit is the best yet!

Merry Christmas to all and a special one to Mitch for the great gift you gave me earlier this year.
And also great holidays to everyone who celebrated Hanukkah, other holidays, or who just enjoys the season. We do both Hanukkah and Christmas because I’m Jewish and my wife is a Christian. But it’s not really an intermarriage because we’re both canoers.
