I would like to start taking more video. I have used both my DSLR and point and shoot camera for video, but I'm not terribly happy with either. Both would require a gimbal to stabilize handheld shots. I find the Hero 7 intriguing... shoots 4K, built-in stabilization and can also shoot under water. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any other thoughts?

Gary, i have taken very little video with mostly mediocre results. I really haven't had a lot of interest in it but lately, after viewing video trip reports i can see the attraction. Might have to investigate a bit as you are.

Well, I just bit the bullet and ordered one. My main goal it to use it for portage and paddling video... maybe underwater. I will let you know how it works out...

Not sure if you saw this but it looks like a pretty good deal. Trade in an old junk digital camera and get $100 off the Hero 7. Looks like a pretty good deal if you hadn't already ordered.

That's a great deal! Too bad I already pulled the trigger and ordered from B&H... even though I paid regular price, they did throw in a free battery, headstrap and 64 GB memory card.
