I have no idea how instagram works. And since when did a pound sign become a hashtag?

I like Instagram..... I don't really know how it works yet either. I do know that I can see awesome pics from people with the same interests as me and usually I don't have to hear about their political opinions.

I mean, I post on Instagram, but you'll only see car stuff there cuz it's just for my mobile detailing business. Honestly, the only reason I'm on FB, Insta, or Twit is for the sake of advertising my business. I genuinely don't get Instagram. I use it cuz I'm told I should, but I'm not sure it's really bringing me any business (if there is a way for me to use Instagram to actually target locals, I haven't found it), and I just don't understand Instagram as a concept. It's just an app for people to scroll through strangers' photos? As an individual user, not a business, I just don't get why this is something I should want to spend my time with. Facebook has been tremendously useful for me. I do wish I could learn Instagram's secret, though; it's growth as a platform is huge, so the advertising potential should be similar if I could only learn how to tap into it properly.

All that said, one of my tripping goals (after the main priority of actually going more often) is to improve my photo/videography on trips. If that happens, maybe I'll start an account devoted specifically to my wilderness content. But first, I need to have more content.

If you really want to see my stuff or are an interested local (my reach to date has been Stevens Point, WI to Chicago, IL), contact me privately.

***NEWS FLASH for all canoe country fans***

Instagram, Twitter and Facebook have announced that they are merging.

The new social media giant will be called "INSTA TWIT FACE"

Its ability to distract and fritter away user's personal time will be so powerful that you won't be able to unplug from your device even in the BWCA/Quetico!

Designers are rushing to develop methods to easily and conveniently attach any device onto any canoe or kayak, anytime, anywhere.

Another wonder of the modern age that we could only dream of is about to be a reality!

Details are pending....

just got a new phone a few weeks ago. so I tried installing instagram this morning and get asked for a credit card? also it wants to sync all my contacts with whatever they do. I don't think I want to do that right now. guess i'll stick with the old email option.

I could have written this, except that I never was on FB to begin with. My extended family and also Spartan1's are only marginally cooperative about an occasional email, so we are pretty much cut off from family news. But I have more time and less conflict in my life every day. For me, it is a good trade-off. I am sure it is different for younger people. I can use the excuse that I am an old lady.

Yes, hashtag #BWCA is one of my favorites. Anyone that posts a picture and includes #BWCA will show up. I see a lot of egknuti's beautiful photos that way. I really should just be following him.

I also follow many of the outfitters since they post a lot of nice pictures and updates about the area.

Believe it or not, some young people don't have any social media at all. Not being sarcastic or defensive, just sayin'.

I am sure that is true. They are just not the young people in our extended families. ;-)

On another note, I was told last Wednesday by a friend at church that if I really wanted to be up to date on the news of our church friends, I shouldn't be so stubborn about not being on FaceBook. The friend who said this is 88 years old. So I guess, now that I think about it, age is no excuse either. Sigh.

Instagram? I don’t even know what hashtag means. But I did just install my first app. Accuweather radar map on a new phone. I’m so excited! It’s funny, when you meet someone new and they ask if you are on Facebook and I say no, they are like, you’re not on Facebook??? I don’t even know what it is nor do I think I need it in my life. Slowly working my way through all this. Have fun.

Are you still south because I think the northland is calling you :-)

I don't have Instagram, but my husband does, just so we can follow our kids. We share a fb account-- we have a huge family spread across many states and that's how we keep up with them, sort of. Our siblings do group emails for the important stuff, especially as several have severe hearing loss which make phone calls hard. And we also have only one shared home email.

That's about all I can handle. Snapchat, Twitter, whatever, I have no idea how those work, and really don't want to.

Interesting to see the "cool by being anti-cool" ground on the "I'VE NEVER USED IT AND CARE SO LITTLE ABOUT IT THAT I'M GOING TO ANNOUNCE I'VE NEVER USED IT" crowd.

Use it or not. If it doesn't rule your life it matters little.

I'm all over social media. I check it here and there and find it very enjoyable.

. Yep I am south of the Northland. Miss it, for sure. But, I have some roots here and need to explore those more. Thanks for asking.
