It seems to me, that fishing in areas with current is effective.
I just noticed this the last 2 years.
Fishing by rapids, where rivers are entering lakes, etc.

Do any of you have an opinion on this.

Yes! Current is a fish magnet.

Don't overlook areas where a large basin pinches down before entering another basin creating a hour glass shape. Wind or rivers entering / exiting lakes can produce currents in these areas that become fish magnets.

It seems to me like this is especially true early in the year, for walleye at least.

I live on a river and the only time I don't fish current is in the Quetico. I wrote an article on fishing current in the Boundary Waters for smallmouth if you have any interest in reading it send me an email - queticomike@yahoo.com

Along the Falls chain. You could catch fish below every significant rapid/fall anytime if the water is deep enough. If the water is shallow it might be a dawn and dusk timing thing.
