We're planning a first ever trip to the Knife area including the smaller lakes to the NE such as Ester, Cherry, Hanson, etc. That also means we'll be a short distance from a PMA and my wife and I have always wanted to check them out but haven't yet. It looks like this might be an easier one, by PMA standards depending on how far we make it in from Hanson.

Any thoughts? Tips? Probably just a day trip for now so not camping. I see some of that area was burned which is fine. We'll just explore and fish probably

I was there in 2017. The Voyageur map is very accurate with the burn zone perimeter, but there was some new growth coming up when we were there. The portage into link is easy. The portage from link to gift is easy. The portage from link to bullfrog is right next to the creek, but there was some bushwhacking. The lakes farther in I will not know about until later this year as we are going back to this PMA for a few days before we head farther south. I would say this is a day trip area because there are nice camp sites right next to it on Hanson.

Thanks everyone! We'll give it a go if all goes as planned.
