I have two days of vacation that I cannot carry over this year so I either use them or take the sub pay rate, at a loss. I was thinking of taking Friday off and heading up to Madison for Copia.

I want to buy a CCS tarp, not sure size or 1.1 vs 1.9. I will probably go 1.1 and 10x14, but the 12.5 x 14 has my eye as well.

My question is do vendors have an ample supply on hand or should I just order now? I have been to sport shows in the past and it seems like I end up ordering since they are so limited on the amount of space they are allocated.

I am looking forward to going and the Ministry of Finance has spoken her approval for the purchase. Of course she is thinking a $10 tarp from Menards. I should also mention she heads up the War Department... maybe the shutdown will still be on and she won't notice.

On Facebook, Dan mentioned that he will have 800 items at Canoecopia. You could contact him to se if he will have the specific thing you want but it also said that the list is set and anything not on it will need to be a custom order. On the other hand, Dan is great at custom orders.

when it comes to a ccs tarp I say go as big as you can afford. You won't regret the extra dry space in a downpour.

Based on what I've seen in the past, Dan should have plenty of tarps on hand in the most common colors and also some of the multicolor tarps as well. I can't speak to the availability of 12.5 x 14 tarps as I've never seen that size personally before, but if Dan's reading this thread he will chime in.

Thanks for the replies. This would be my first tarp and from what I have read is that no one tarp is best for all situations. I recently joined facebook and just got added to the CCS page so I can learn more. Now I just have to either learn some knots or order some trinkets from a dutchware(?) site someone posted a while back. Thanks again everyone.

Learn to tie the knots but get some Dutchwear bling. They are faster in a downpour or in the dark and far superior when you can't feel your fingers anymore.

I have both sizes (both CCS); my personal opinion is "go big", especially if there are others in your party.
Nice to have the extra space when bad weather rears its head.
I think the weight difference is negligible; unless you're a minimalist.
A nice sized tarp has saved me from suffering needlessly so many times, I lost count years and years ago.
About the only time my smaller tarp gets used is if I'm traveling solo.

BOB

P.S. Consider this: If/when you need "more" space; you can't make a small tarp larger.

I think even if out of stock at the show, you can get the show discount.

Go to Dan's display on Friday as soon as they open--His stuff goes fast and waiting can be fatal--been there, done that!
