I don't have the time at the moment to read this but I certainly will because I love reading first time accounts. But I want to mention that you can make it much more reader friendly by having shorter paragraphs. A giant block of words is difficult to read. I'm looking forward to it.

I changed it up a bit. My apologies.

Nice report. My son, nephew and I are planning on this route in May. Hopefully a few less other campers in May around the Moosecamp/Fourtown area.

Nice report. I loved the details. You had a great plan and route but you went during peak time. You might look into going into Quetico if August is the only time you can go. I went through the same thing trying to find a site on the number lakes in 2009. It’s cool that your son is into it. Hopefully you can do many more together.

Thanks, bushman, really enjoyed the video and trip report. It looked like you and Joe really enjoyed the trip. I know it didn't exactly go as planned, but sometimes that just makes me want to go back more, knowing what it could have been and what I could have done differently.

I went through Mudro and Fourtown about 10 years ago, but it was in the fall and not as crowded then.

After so many trips I got the food and fuel things down pretty good. You'll enjoy not hanging a food pack - I quit after a few years - it's so much easier. I've never gone back by Chicago since going through the U.P. and that's been about 13 times. It's even easier and faster now that they increased the speed limits. The drive is so much more relaxed and scenic.

I enjoyed reading your report. Having a cold or congestion is no fun. I lose my sense of taste, balance, and overall coordination. If going a month later is an option you won't experience any bugs, the temps will likely be 20° cooler, and finding a campsite is no problem. Mid-Sept. is my favorite time in the BWCA.

Looks like you learned a lot and no better way to spend time with the kids. Thanks for sharing!
