Nice report treehorn. I took a hiatus from 1980 to 1989, and then another hiatus from 1994 - 2015. I'm determined not to let a year go by again where I am not paddling in the BWCA. I now live in TX which makes it more challenging, but then again it makes it all the more special as well. I'm glad that you not only were able to go back but that you are able to have a group of friends that enjoy it as much as you do and that you can make it an annual trip. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Thanks for reading...I admire your commitment to get up there for trips all the way from Texas!

Nice report, treehorn. I never went to the BW until 2002, when I was in my 50's. I had never done any canoe tripping but fell in love with it. I spent the next 3 years trying to arrange for my brother/sister to go with me to share expenses of the long drive from WV, but it never worked out and I went to the ADK's in the meantime. I had decided I'd just have to save up and go alone or not go and so in 2006, I was off to the BW for my second trip. And I've been there every year since. A lot of details of the first few trips are really kind of hazy like yours, vague memories of wonderful things. A lot of my trips have been solo, but a few have been tandem.
