I just found out today that the new hip I just got is bad.
Just like my knee one part of it affixed to my bones but the other did not. Looking at another 3 months off of work. Don't know about what's going to happen this summer. Still planning on going to canoecopia. Going to keep my fingers crossed.

Bad as in what, did it rob a liquor store? I would think they're not still installing the old metal on metal ones that contaminated the blood stream with heavy metals.

Sorry to hear that. There will be better days ahead!

I feel your pain, plumbbob. Literally.

I had a total hip replacement last March and had pain all of the time since. Kept complaining to the surgeon and he ordered multiple tests, an ileopsoas (sp?) injection, more X-rays and tests, kept saying the joint was "fine". Finally it began slipping every time I moved. I was constantly in fear of falling. I went in on January 10th and said "Enough is enough." He looked at the latest CT scan, heard again about the slippage and the pain, and scheduled surgery for a "revision" on the 14th. Worked me into his schedule.

He said the prosthesis was sound, but it wasn't attached to the femur, and it was sliding around all the time. (Like I couldn't have told him that.) Said he cleaned out "a lot of scar tissue" and put in two big screws.

Recovery this time has been much quicker and less pain every day. I am hopeful that maybe in 2019 I can at least get in and out of a canoe--couldn't do that at all in 2018. Don't know if I will ever lose the cane. Certainly not in time for Canoecopia, but maybe someday.

Good luck to you. Maybe they will get it right this time. Prayers,

Spartan2

That's exactly what's going on with my hip. They looked at the first x-rays yesterday. And he said that he wanted to reevaluate it in a month.

So I go back next month and I will see what happens.

I had the bad knee replacement replaced in August. Then my hip in November. Then in December I had a my rotator cuff. I guess I just dreaming that all of them were going to be good and that things were going to start to get better.

02/08/2019 11:04AM
WOW! You go to PT every day?

Well look at the bright side. After having your hip, knee, and shoulder worked on you're probably only one or two more surgeries away from turning into RoboCop.

Born under a bad sign...

That sucks bro. I just got over all my cancer issues. Man that was a relief. A couple more scars later and I’m good to go. Feel great. I hope you get there soon. That has got to be tough. Not tougher than you though, so hang in there. It just makes you cooler than everyone else.

I have been thinking about a trip this summer. I was looking for a easy trip, one or maybe two portage's. Nothing to hard.
I am going to canoecopia doing dinner with the group and going to stay the night.

I didn't mean you were born under a bad sign, I was just finishing the song.
And don't thank me for the prayers, because I didn't make any. I wouldn't want to jinx ya. Yeah, that wouldn't be good...
Any time I tell someone my story, if they say 'I'm sorry', I say, don't say your sorry, just say that sucks. So you are officially given my badge of honor, if you will,

Dude, that sucks.

Peace and get well, scat

Well it sucks to get news like this. It probably doesn’t mean much but I know others that have had similar happen and they are doing well now. Hope in all works out for you in the end and sorry ya have this extra hurdle placed in front of ya.

To make the bright side shine brighter, the rotator cup & knee did take. Yes?
I understand your frustrations but there was a time when none of these procedures were even possible. Pray the second time around will work for the hip. As we age, the healings are so very slow, too. I hope in a couple of years you can look back at this trial of endurance and smile--because all the joints will be working just as they should.
Good Luck!

Just got word from my doctor's office and they want to go back in and try to fix my hip that I just had put in.

Dang, Bob, we're thinking of you, over here across the river. Hope it goes well.

I truly hope that your "fix" goes as well as mine (just done 1/14) did! I will be thinking about you, plumbbob! I am walking without my cane for the first time in almost 2 1/2 years! Pain is gone. Nothing I can wish for you better than that.

I can't imagine how painful and frustrating these "surgeries gone bad" are to deal with everyday. Man is born to trouble.
