Anybody been out ice fishing on Lake Superior yet?

I live close to the lake in Duluth and have seen quite a few shacks out, but I havent made it out yet. I heard they are catching some good size lakers, but not in large numbers. I plan on hitting it up this weekend.

I was out there for the first time Sunday. Nothing. There were about 100 people out there. This morning I drove by right at sunup and not a soul. So, who knows what that's about. I plan to hit it next week during the week. Salmon would be a riot.

I was out Monday morning. 21st ave east area. missed one bite in 70 fow. 6" of ice.

watched a couple utube , recent ice fishing, lakers and whitefish. somewhere along the north shore. pretty creepy drilling holes in crystal ice, making long cracks when the auger went thru. did not look like enough ice for my comfort.

Was out there off of 21st on Sunday as well. Skunked... heard that from most folks. Was a solid 6-8" of ice.

desperate times, desperate measures! My boat's not superior-ready/safe, so i'll be hoping to jig up some coho or lakers through the ice if it hangs around a while. for now i'm still fishing walleye while i can.
