To celebrate my retirement this year, my wife and I have booked a first night in their lodge, followed by a houseboat tour from Crane Lake for a week. We are very excited for this tour of luxury.
We rented the newer SunCruiser houseboat, perfect for a couple. Looked at most of the outfitters and they seemed to have the nicest boats, but location was what I liked. After this trip, we will take our canoe and follow the northland to Grand Marais to paddle the BWCA. This all happens beginning August 19. If you have done this, let's hear of your trip.
boonie, i will be back for our trip. :)

solo, we did a houseboat trip many many years ago on Rainy Lake and loved it. Incredible comfort and convenience in the wild and scenic area we love. Took the trailing boat out to explore and fish a lot. Grilled on deck and played a lot of cards at night in the screened in porch. It's pricey but a great experience. A great reward for the completion of your career...Congrats!

We rented a Sun Cruiser from Voyagaire last year over Labor Day. It is quite different from a "minimalist" canoe trip to the Quetico!! Both are great experiences just at the opposite ends of water travel camping. I do have some advice for you if you want to email me at jslette@arvig.net I would be glad to share some ideas with you.
