You can buy a disposable skin staple gun for half or 2/3 less plus it can close 2-3 times more wounds.......just saying. Not hard to do and they hold better and longer IMO. This is a neat idea but I don't have faith in adhesives on skin.....prep is critical, sweat, etc. 7 day hold time (optimal conditions) is not enough time IMO.

Just watched a video on a disposable skin staple gun. Looks like it would be really difficult to do by yourself, and much more painful. $29 seems like a good deal for a product that you hopefully don't use to often and could really save you a lot of grief out in the bush. Agree that the wound site would have to be prepped well for good adhesion. Not in the medical field so just speaking from what I would feel comfortable doing to me or an injured tripping partner or child.

Yes, the prep work would require some time & effort to clean and dry thoroughly but dressing a wound shouldn't be rushed. It would feel so much better than solo-me trying to staple myself. Plus, a smoothly sliced wound would likely close up and heal almost perfectly with this ZipStitch. I like.

Seems like a great idea but I have to wonder how the adhesive holds up to sweat and moisture. I wonder if you could just super glue the thing on, super glue doesn’t hurt skin, just stings like hell in an open wound.

My first aid kit is limited to a few pain relievers, aspirin, antihistamines, a small tube of topical antibiotic ointment, a few anti-diarrheal tablets, a roll of tape and a few large bandaids. The bandaids represent the greatest expense but, even with those included, the whole kit costs less than $10 to assemble.
When accompanying my son's Boy Scout troop, I'll carry a slightly larger kit that includes gauze, Ace wraps and SAM Splints. At that point, the SAM splints become the costly item but, they are at least reusable.
No chance I add a 1.5 inch, $30, single use item to my kit.

Just got myself a new stapler in the mail this week. Stuck my hand last year and tried the super glue and no work at all. Three or four staples and then some super glue and bleeding stopped. Did not hurt at all putting them in. I jinxed myself by watching a video before the trip on how to use the thing. I have had it in my first aid kit for probably 8 years.
Stopped at Ely ER when we got out and had the Doc look at it. Said that it did a great job, but suggested cleaning and stitches so I didn't have staples sticking out the back side of my hand. That hurt worse than anything that I did.
I wouldn't have even stopped at the ER, but the week before the trip is when my daughter became a Doc, and I would have never heard the end of it.
Stapler was $10 something on Prime. Comes with 35 staples in it.
