Just found a new series to get into; the "Nick Drake" series by Dwight Holing. If you like any of the Cork O'Conner, Joe Pickett, and Mike Bowditch series you're likely to enjoy these as well. I definitely did.
Set in Oregon during the Vietnam war, Nick Drake is a nam veteran who has taken a remote Oregon Post as a Fish and Game warden to overcome PSTD related issues from the war and falls into the middle of several mysteries. Aside from references to the war, does not feel like a "historical fiction" novel at all. Feels very contemporary and the stories, characters, wildlife, and culture are all very engaging.
Hope this recommendation helps provide some entertainment for someone out on the trail, in the ice-fishing shack, or just surviving the remaining dark days of winter!
