There are some wonderful photographs in this collection of the SNF. They range from the early 1900's to 1960-1970's. It's posted in the private forum BWCAW/QPP History, but we have many new members who may not have seen it. It's so interesting to see the area throughout the years.

There are 3 pages do miss out on next page link at the bottom. About half way down they show a boat they called Bull of The Woods on Birch Lake. This photo is a boat sunken on Burntside also called Bull of The Woods. They look similar, but the smoke stack is different. I wonder if it is a different boat or updated stack? The boat on Birch shows a name of Bess on its side also. Edit, it turns out bull of the woods might have been a model or style of boat.

The old Indian pictures are special!!

Great pictures thanks for sharing. When I have time I think I will add the link to the Jackpinejim logging thread so no one misses these great pictures.

Amazing how nature can recover in less then 100 years after clear cut logging.

That's a great idea. It might be a good idea to add that thread to the History Forum also, so it will be easier to find. I want to reread it this weekend in one sitting as I think I missed a few posts.

All you posters should get together and write a book about your memories. That was one of the best threads about the area.

Unas10: " Can you imagine the aroma? "

Oh yes, my grandparents were of the generation that put on their woolen longjohns in Nov. and took them off in March. They didn't practice that, but some of their friends did!!
