Stupid question from someone who should know better:

If I'm planning on entering by taking a tow up Sag to American Point, do I need a Overnight Paddle permit or a Motor permit?

You need overnight paddle if you're taking canoes and just hiring tow to get you dropped off.

If you're staying in boat and in motor only section you'd need motor permit (unlikely?)

The tow operator has you covered if in his boat.

Are you enterin the Q or BWCAW?

If entering Q and taking a tow to border, no BWCA permit at all. Take a blank day-paddle in case you paddle out

Otherwise, if camping in BWCAW, overnight paddle.
