We consider ourselves above average fishermen, and to not catch fish for almost the whole trip really sucked.

Blueberries were very good though.

Ill have to post additional pictures of the moose sign that was in camp. Sure wish we could have seen one.

Thanks for your report. I like the top of the cliffs at Winchell. Watching stars from the top of it is amazing. Glad your fall was not more serious.

Glad you came through your fall okay, very scary. My sister slipped on a damp rock while hiking in Alaska. She fell onto a sharp edged stone that sliced her knee to the cartilage and had to be air lifted out. She was young and fit, but she just fell in exactly the wrong spot. Never had a wilderness injury, but I am knocking on wood right now...

I've been there with the poor fishing...never ideal.

I know there are a million exceptions and guys over in the fishing forum might explain how it's perfectly possible to slay the fish in late summer, but I truly believe it's quite a bit tougher catching fish on these late summer trips than in the spring. They just don't seem as hungry. For various reasons, that's when I usually go, and it's the rare occasion that they are jumping in the boat, no matter what we try or where we go. Hopefully 2019 proves me wrong on that!

Glad the fall wasn't more serious...could happen to anyone.

Bring more food next time! ;-)

Great trip report, thanks! Glad the fall wasn't worse.

Our fishing on Gaskin & Winchell hasn't been great - both have been big fish lakes or nothing for us. I wonder if it wasn't just bad timing though, because we've had good luck on Meeds in the bay right outside the campsite you stayed in.

Moon Lake brings back memories. When we were there, it was so loaded with little pike that we got tired of catching them pretty quickly. Would be a great place for a pickling pike run, except for carrying them out!

I have that photo of him. To be used at the appropriate time. :-)
