Either the author doesn't really know the subject very well, or they were restricted only to canoes that they could profit off of affiliate links for, or both (my bet). Maybe if it was "Best Rec Canoes on a Budget," but nope--this is a list of The Best recreational canoes apparently. Hey, whatever someone enjoys to paddle is great, so I'd never judge anyone by their canoe, but I am kind of judging this author for their list.

Wow, that was an interesting list. I would imagine she knows very little about canoeing.

This is just using SEO and a popular topic to set up affiliate links to Amazon. The author isn't going to mention anything that cannot earn them affiliate revenue through Amazon or REI.

Hmm. Nothing that you can get at Wal Mart or Sam's. Possible gear-snob?

What exactly is SEO. When I try to research a product 90% of the links connect to Amazon.

Wow.

Good to know the MR Adventure 14 can accommodate 3 passengers, and that the 12' Disco doesn't have the best tracking!

Does this mean y'all won't be subscribing to their newsletter?

SEO = search engine optimization

I just mean their site seems low quality and just intended to get people to click an affiliate link.

So the Old Town 119 is a race boat that's fast because of it's aerodynamic shape? Hmmm.

I remember doing Internet research for a canoe cart and it seemed darn near impossible to even find useful hints. Tons of cheap carts with 5 star ratings and some even had reviews that described how they broke during first use.

canoe212: "This aggression will not stand!"
I caught the reference as well. Careful man, there’s a beverage here!

These are pretty much what I call "cabin" type canoes; not exactly the kind I'd want to take camping . That being said I love my Grumman Solo and use it for fishing and weekend trips.

That was a bizarre list. I think I'll skip their newsletter. The article on measuring map distances didn't even mention my favorite method...a twist tie. What is the world coming to :)

Great movie, “The Dude Abides”

This list of canoes is wrong on many levels.

I'm not even going to look. I've stumbled across a number of different "Best of" type lists that pretend to be reviews but are just crappy SEO drivers like said above.

I learned to never take advice from paid reviewers. Talk to owners!
I bought a crappy 2018 Honda CRV because all the big review companies called it a 'best buy'. Only after I bought it did I find that the new CR-V's have an engineering defect. All of the owner forums talk about it but the paid reviewers don't mention a peep.

Anyway, some poor fellow will stumble on the canoe reviews in the link and go out and buy a crappy canoe.

If you don't have anything good to say; don't say anything at all..............

Sorry, this dude don't abide by that quotations.
Call me a canoe snob; I don't care.
That "best" list stinks to high heaven.

Subscribe to their website: Not gonna happen!
Buy a canoe from Amazon: Not gonna happen!

I wouldn't mind having one of those "beaters"; if someone gave me one of them for free.
I'd give it to my wife; she could make a neat flower bed out of it.
Would make a good litter box for a family with multiple cats.
Or ready made sand box for family with a couple of toddlers.

"Lady, don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out of here with that "steaming load of BS".

Yep, all about that affiliate networking.

A big rule for me is to NEVER buy product based on a review that is obvious the person doesn't even own or use the product.
