We took a trip last June to fish smallies primarily as well as pike and walleye. The bass fishing was great for the entire duration of the trip. We found tons of thick pre-spawn females stacked up in river mouths and rapid areas. The best baits for me were poppers and jerk baits on cloudy days and soft plastics on sunny days.
