my 1st thought when I saw the photo was Morgan and then when I read the hint I was pretty confident.

I've been there twice.. once we hiked it in late Oct. with the ducklings and once I entered there for an early May (week after iceout) solo.

On the May solo I was the 1st one through that spring and there were a lot of downed trees because of a heavy winter snowfall that was followed by a long stretch of below 0 temps. The whole portage looked like this and my planned 30 min. single portage turned into 3 hours of exhaustion. That was an AWESOME trip. 4 moose, 1 bear, 2 wolves, and only 2 people seen during my trip. The people I saw were 2 rangers clearing the Lizz/Caribou portage which made my exit much easier than my entrance.
