Due to a change of vehicles, I can finally use my Yakima Racks again. However, the bad news is I need to buy new towers and my roof rails call for the Yakima Timberline Towers.
The good news is I will be able to use my 78" round bars with rubber gunwale brackets, but will need a set of $30 adapters. (There's always something, isn't there?)
Has anyone used the Timberline Towers on your vehicle? If so, how well did they work, install and stay secure?

I have not used Timberlines, but I've used almost every tower Yakima has to offer since the 80s. Every one has worked flawlessly and have been super secure on my vehicles. I'm the kind of person who leaves my Yakima stuff on year around. I'm guessing you'll have great luck with the Timberline towers.

But Howie, the salesman assured me the Lambo would make a great canoe hauler! I had to believe him. His lips were moving. :)

I use them on my Ford Escape. They work just fine.
I also occasionally use 78" bars for two canoes, and they've worked well.
When purchased, they come with 3 different attachment brackets, as I recall. You pick the bracket that works best with the rails on your particular vehicle.

I set a goal of losing 10 lbs. this year. I only have 15 left to lose.

Maybe a set of used Yakima RailGrab Towers could be located. That would work with the round bars no adapter needed. I had a set, used them for years. But sold them 2 years ago.

That's what I have right now, but the roof rails on the new SUV are a little too big for them. I was hopeful, but no dice. Now I get to spend a couple hundred bucks for new towers. At least I have the bars and the keelover pads.

Thought I'd make a follow-up post now that I have the Timberline towers for my Yak rack.
They worked like a CHARM! Two canoes, 1200 miles roundtrip, 70 mph +/- on the highway... no issues whatsoever. A little putzy to put on and take off, but once they're on, rock solid!
And for the record, our new SUV is the VW Atlas. Nicest vehicle we've ever owned, and an excellent canoe and gear hauler. Like it a lot.
