This is an interesting device. Location service, text message, SOS etc, through your phone. $399 so a bit cheaper than an INreach. It doesn't seem to do as much, but maybe some of the extras aren't necessary?

It looks like it requires a smartphone for a screen (so it's not a standalone device, as Spot and inReach are). Also, I couldn't find what satellite system it uses. Spot and inReach use different satellite systems, with inReach using the Iridium system, which is tried and true, and Spot uses Globalstar. For the same amount of money, you can get systems that have a good track record and thousands of uses. I'd try to get more information before I'd buy.

I'm really intrigued. I like the no commitment plan and the downloadable maps.

It says it uses the iridium network. Looks like an interesting option.

The biggest difference to me is the minimum monthly requirement of $15 for the Somewear, that is a deal breaker for me.
