My best friend and long time paddling partner Regent and I will be joined this summer by our new addition, Rainy. She's just 9 weeks old, and I can't wait to introduce her to a canoe, tent, and water. I was thinking of another Knife Lake trip in late May for lakers, but we'll see how water temps and essential training go. Im hoping Regent can teach her everything he knows.

davep785:"Congratulations. Hope to see you on the portages again someday"Hey Dave, haven't seen you here on the forum for a while. Glad to see your back, I did get to stay on Fat lake that day we bumped into each other; who ever had been there must have just been leaving.

Congrats Jawalker............ she's a keeper! Looking forward to seeing your trip videos.
crazy.... we are thinking about getting Echo a buddy and the pups are due 4/30. Your post reminds me it may not be the best idea to have a puppy at the same time we have a baby.

Duckman: "Well?"
No luck getting out yet. My big dog has struggled through some health issues in May but seems on the mend now. Looks like out first chance to get out may be end of July or early August. That will give us more time for swimming practice. Wish I could have gone sooner, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

Well our first trip is accomplished! Went up Moose River North for 5 days and both dogs had a great time. Stable flies were a big problem while paddling though. Rainy did great on her first trip. She's a very curious dog and loved every aspect of it. Fell out of the canoe on the river once - it was really pretty funny - my big boy Regent just shifted a little while she was standing and it was just enough to roll her over the edge. Kept her in a PFD most of the time as she had only a little swim practice before, but she's absolutely got it now and just attacks the water. Loves to eat dried fish heads and bones she finds along the shore - gobbles them like potato chips. Overall a great introductory trip, and hoping for a longer on next month.
