Booked 1st BWCA trip ever for my son and me the last week of May. Going from Moose up to Knife Lake. Looking for suggestions on places to see. Also looking to fish walleye and lake trout. Thanks for any suggestions.

There are always arguments over whether to get a tow or not. Not a big deal either way. I always get the tow. A few neat places to see are bacon rock, Dorothy’s island, thunder point, and Eddy Falls. You can get cell service on top of thunder point if you or your kid need a quick internet fix or call come.
"Hold on, I think I can get in without getting my feet wet."....SPLASH...

Glad it's just about the tow I was getting concerned about being to busy lol. I would like to check out Dorothys island for sure. Definitely don't need internet or phone service on a getaway trip lol. I am wondering about dragging a fish locator with if it's worth the hassle?

No dilemma... take a tow. Take a locator if you have room. First trips tend to be heavy and you will learn a lot about what is needed vs what is fluff. A locator is nice for deepwater trolling for Lakers
Have a great trip and post a report when you get back.

Since you are taking the tow you will hit knife at 11:00 ish depending on how you portage. Isle of pine is straight east of your last portage into knife and campsite 1248 is right across from Dorthy's Island. Stayed there last year and nice site with lots of room to explore or fish from shore. Lots of day trip stuff around there too. Thunder Point is worth the time and hike just for the view.

Thanks for the information everyone is putting out there . Definitely helps looking to fish mornings/evenings and check some things out in the middle sounds like a good area for that. I’ve made a few trips to voyergeurs so I’ve already learned a lot about lightening up the loads way to easy to overload for any camping trip.
