For anyone interested, the Michigan DNR has amended fishing regulations within the Sylvania Wilderness. Beginning April 1st, 2019 they have eliminated the restriction on scented plastics.

And have removed the words "scented material" from the Wilderness fishing regulations paragraph 4. part C.

I see whole new opportunities here. Michigan DNR Fisheries order 212.19

Now why would they put a restriction on scented plastics?

According to the DNR, scented plastics were "engulfed by fish similarly to live bait" restrictions were put into place in the 90's to reduce "gut hooking mortality rates" because of that idea.

For the past 20+ years in Sylvania it's been reasoned that if you put your plastics in the water, and it left any kind of film on the water, as almost all scented plastics do, it is was illegal.

That's good news. No need to order those no salt Senkos. Also don't have to find non-scented twisters. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for sharing, I hadn't noticed that update yet. It will make packing for my trips there one step easier to not have to worry about separating salted vs non-salted senkos.
