I am planning on getting a tow from LLC to the Black Robe portage on one of the days from August 19 to 22. Since I am solo I would like to share the cost. I have not finalized my exact day so if anyone else would like to reduce their tow cost please email me at
john.larway@gmail.com. I could even do the week before if that works for someone.

With that much lead time, and date flexibility your tow operator should be able to match you up with another group with no problem. I use Zups , give Kathy my date range and she’s always been able to match me up.

The last time I went through one of the mentioned outfitters for a tow, the cost was per person. Not included was the extra per each canoe. I will be interested to know what a shared cost would be. Let us know how this worked out.

This was the case when my brother and I used one of the mentioned outfitters two years ago. Per person and then an extra fee per private canoe.

I guess I should have researched the tow options more before I posted. I have been on LLC struggling to canoe at least five or six times but all I knew about the tow boats was that they sped by me. My plan was to use CC to reach the ranger station and then get towed which I thought was by the natives from the res. Can I get towed by the US outfitters from the ranger station? I never even considered that as an option. Anyway I guess I need to research this further. Do all US outfitters have to stop at the ranger station before completing the tow?
