I have in the past been a crankbaits troller. I will have my three oldest kids with me this year so we will have leeches and crawlers in August. Never been to Insula. Kids are 10, 11, 13.

1. Are there particular areas people target there? Walleye, Northern, Smallies I guess but not preferred.

Fish the Reefs with leeches. Plenty structure in Insula to fish.

Find the points between islands or to the mainland shore, they are usually connected underwater. Drift between them with jigs/plastics/bait. It's a great starting point. And as already mentioned, Insula has a lot of solid fish-able structure.
