I'll be on wood lake the weekend of may 18th. Has anyone done a day trip to Basswood for pike that time of year? Would that be worth my time and effort if I want to catch a truly big (40+ inch) pike? Or are my chances about the same on Wood, Indiana, etc? Thanks.

Way better chance of a 40 inch pike in Wind Bay on Basswood. Use a frozen Smelt, or a larger bait like a frozen Alewife.

We always catch big Norderns first ice on wood. 32 pounder came outta wood a few years back.
