I’m considering Gaia GPS or other mapping/tracking for windows and iPhone to plan and hike Minnesota and South Dakota public land without trails, and BWCAW trails. Currently I dig up county platts and use google satellite maps, which takes a lot of time to sort out.
Can you give me opinions on 2 concerns: 1) black hole of membership, buying maps, updates, and 2) finding out there are no maps for some Minnesota counties.
I would like to have a list of maps, prices, etc. from these apps before I jump in. Any help, links, resources would be greatly appreciated. (Including threads here I might have missed)
Time in the woods leaves no time for carving and drawing. Carving and drawing leaves no time for getting lost in the woods.

I use onX maps app on my phone..they have a chip too for your GPS. It is about $30 per state or every state for $100. It shows private/public property and access. I use it for hunting/fishing mostly..lots of great features in the app. And you can do a 7 day free trial.
