Coming up last week of June for a 5 nighter.
1st time poster.. Love all the info everyone.. Great Community here.
Coming in EP#84 Snake river, going up Bald Eagle, Gabbro and top the River.
Possibly planning day trips to Lake 1 and Clear or another suggestions for fishing?
Also Campsites along the river.. Should we head to camp then explore, or will we be okay meandering around then getting to base camp?
Thanks gang,
Joel

I’d definitely be looking for a campsite. There’s, in my opinion, only a few quality sites on Bald Eagle. There’s a few more nicer sites on Gabbro. This area can be quite busy toward the end of June. Also, for some reason, this area can be quite buggy.

Great area. Was buggy in October! Cant imagine June. Dont wait till mid afternoon to find a site, but woy vould be on Clearwater or Gull by lanch if you statred early, both nice lakes. If you do base on Bald or Gabbro, consider daytrip the Gull-Pietro-Camdre-Clearwater-Turtle loop. Also fun to trip up Isabella River. A vouple if nice sites.

Do the loop just mentioned. It’s a blast. You will def get to Bald Eagle on the first day cuz you don’t have a choice. There are no campsites till you get there. The Snake River is really cool. You will enjoy it. Have fun!

It took me and my 4 year old daughter only three hours to get to Bald Eagle so you guys won’t have any problems. One of the portages along the Snake River could be eliminated because the water may be high enough for you to paddle or at least line through. We lined it in August. Fishing on Bald Eagle was fantastic, we caught fish every time we dropped a line. I would recommend the loop from above. Gorgeous scenery all on the edge of the burn.
