I am going in on Nina Moose North and looking at a map and got to wondering. When I exit can I take the Echo trail to 24 to 23 to 53 or would I just be better off going back to Ely. I don't know much about Echo trail west of Nina Moose, 23 or 24. Thanks

You sure could do that. We take 24 straight to Orr, however. The backroads off of 24 to Cook can be rough at times.

Yeah, the fastest way from the Moose river parking lot to civilization is to take the Echo Trail to 24 to 23 to Orr and then hop on 53. There is no turn you have to take after you get off of the Echo Trail, just follow the tar road to Orr. The western Echo Trail while still gravel is quite a bit wider and straighter than the chunk between the Moose river and Ely.

If you want the scenic route, taking Highway 24 into Cook (turn left at the VRT) is a beautiful drive, but it's a windy gravel road and will take some extra time.

Yeah, it’s way faster, if you don’t need to stop in Ely for anything. There’s a couple of awesome dive bars in Orr with great food and cheap booze if you’re looking for a stop to grab a bite/drink.

Thanks everyone. I will plan to head that way.

At what point on the Echo trail is it faster to go through Ely vs Orr? I have only been as far north as Mudro and that seemed pretty quick from Ely. Is it Angleworm? Stuart River?

According to Google maps, whatever that's worth, the break even point is between the Moose River entry and Stuart River. That is at Stuart you are better off going to Ely.
