Could someone help by recommending a user-friendly video making program? The simpler to use the better. And I would not mind paying a reasonable fee to acquire one.

In the fall of 2017 I was looking for a new non linear video editor. I had been getting by with some options available for linux but they were having trouble handling the 4gb files I was putting together.

I tried a few different options. The two most memorable were Avid and DaVinci Resolve.

I tried Avid first. It handled the large files no problem. I found it hard to use.

I then tried DaVinci Resolve. Compared to Avid, I found it very easy to use. I find that all video editors have a learning curve. I was able to learn DaVinci Resolve through youtube tutorials.

I use and like DaVinci Resolve to this day. There is a free to use version and a pro version. You can try out the free version and decide if the upgrade to pro is worth it. The free version handles all of my needs.

Thank you I'm going to give the DaVinci Resolve a try.

I’ve done some pretty good vids right on my iPhone using the iMovie app

I second iMovie. There are more features in there than the average person will ever use, it’s just a matter of figuring out how to use them. I have put together a 50 GB project with it and it ran flawlessly. And, it’s free! (If you have a Mac). Like any software, there is a learning curve and it will take a couple of projects to get fluent with it.

I have had decent results with an older version of Adobe Premiere Elements. There is a learning curve but that is the case with most video software.
I took a quick glance at the free version DaVinci Resolve and it looks promising... will have to give it a try with any video I shoot during my May trip.
